If you are at least 16 and a proficient swimmer, you can become an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor and teach swimming and water safety courses. This course includes Fundamentals of Instructor Training certification.
As a Water Safety Instructor (WSI), you can:
- Gain terrific work experience as an aquatics professional
- Earn money or join a volunteer team while you help people learn valuable skills
- Learn organizational and presentation skills that will help you in any career
- Help prepare swim coaches to prevent and respond to emergency situations

Requirements:
- Participants must be at least 16 years old by the last date of their session to receive certification.
- 100 yards front crawl
- 100 yards back crawl
- 100 yards breaststroke
- 50 yards elementary back stroke
